summer’s here … whoop!
Dear Mr Sunshine,
I write to ask if you would be so good as to stay out (and hot) for at least the next five months. Please. Pretty please?
When you’re out, people are out. When you’re out, we’re happy. We have a spring in our step. When you’re out, the birds sing. When you’re out, everything looks pretty. And when you’re out, I’m little miss sunshine.
I would be most grateful if you could oblige.
Many thanks … in anticipation,
Chloe
the uk’s doing me proud
I thought that once Fairtrade Fortnight had come to a close there may be a dip in interest around all things Fairtrade. But if the press is anything to go by, it seems not. In fact, it seems that Fairtrade is flying right now.
And I’ve just read that the Lake District’s going to get all Fairtrade on us … Wow. The first National Park in the UK with the status.
Visitors need not despair, they’ll only see a five pence rise on their purchase of tea and coffee, and that’s surely not going to tighten the purse strings …
But the big fact. Sales of Fairtrade products have been seen to rise by 40% in 2010. How awesome is that? I’m very proud of my nation.
will fairtrade turn heads as well as minds?
That’s me kitted out for the festival season! Loving the new seventies inspired range that Topshop has launched ready for the Spring/ Summer season. And just fantastic news that wearing these key pieces will also mean I’m fair to their traders … For some reason, I didn’t expect such on-trend pieces to be associated with the Fairtrade mark (being completely honest) – and I’m very pleasantly surprised.

Let’s hope this look turns people’s minds as well as their heads.
the new me
I can confirm that following session one, the post-train pain does come to a holt (after a week of ridiculous John-Wayne-walking I was back to normal*).
*I’m not sure I can realistically put myself into a category of ‘normal’.
Anyway, yes, wow! I’m five personal training sessions down, five to go, and I’m really starting to see a new me emerging. The new me includes not only a much more trimmed, toned physique (I imagined I had a six-pack after Thursday’s session), but I’ve got super-duper stamina and focus; I’ve cut out the excessive caffeine drinking and majorly reduced the vino consumption! Bonus indeed. Yes, it is the official Chloe writing this post.
And I hate to admit it, I’m loving it. Although getting up at 6am every Thursday remains a pain in the derriere, once I’m up and out it’s all good. I’d maybe even go as far to say I look forward to it.
I’ll be back with progress reports soon!
I couldn’t go without mentioning my fab PT – Steph – who I’d highly recommend. She pushes me to my limits, and makes every session fresh and fun (it also helps that she’s a fellow Yorkshire lass!). I’ll get her details posted soon, but give me a shout if you want to find out more.
thursdays = pain
Yes, now my Thursday mornings will result in a whole lot of pain. But of course, where there’s pain, there’s gain (or is that, where there’s blame, there’s a claim?). Anyway, you know what I’m getting at – no pain, no gain and all that shizzle.
I was woken this morning by a text at 5.55am from my Personal Trainer, uh-huh you heard correct – my New Personal Trainer. I jumped, okay maybe not exactly jumped … Dragged myself out of bed ready for an hour’s circuit session in the cold outdoors.
December’s festive fun finally got the better of me, and I ended up sniffling my way through Christmas. And I must admit I felt a lot like a well-fed hippo after consuming excessive amounts of foodie yumminess over the holidays.
So, to give my fitness a real kick-start for 2011, I’ve got ten private sessions to push me into a year of health and happiness. And I loved my first workout. I’m in pain, but it’s worth it!
It’s all part of my 2011 ‘get fit, think fit’ theory. Exercising’s a great way of increasing fitness levels, improving health and getting the mind focused for whatever’s thrown my way.
I’ll keep you posted!
where’s it gone?
It’s just hit me. 2010 is almost finito. Yikes! I’m getting all reminiscent and it’s not even New Year’s Eve.
So, as I begin to pack up my belongings and head towards the Shire, I’d like to wish you all a super-duper, magical Christmas and look forward to more chat in the New Year.
To eating much and getting merry!

P.S. A little pic of our lovely Square, where there was a fab carol service to get us in the Christmas spirit.
yey! london’s a winter wonderland.
I woke up this morning to see a sheet of white snow over our beautiful Square gardens. And how picturesque it was.
I must confess. I’ve been in a bit of a grump of late due to the sharp, cold chill in the air. I just hate the inconvenient ice and slush and getting out of my cosy bed in a morning (not to mention the reduction in shoe selection). But the fluffy stuff, I simply love! I felt like a child on Christmas morning as I walked into the office today. I had a big smile on my face and my wellies even got an outing. Yes. I was quite happy indeed.
Let’s hope it stays all cotton wool-like and doesn’t turn into an ice skating rink of pathways. And cross your fingers that the public transport service doesn’t let me down this weekend – I’ve got a very special event in the Shire to attend…
Wishing all a magical December!

i’ve got a bran flake habit : /
Hi. My name’s Chloe and I’ve got a bran flake habit.
When I was a child my mother would always nag me to eat a hearty breakfast. Whenever I was tired, she blamed it on not having a ‘good start to the day’. I began to resent cereal.
In my teens, it grew to a love-hate relationship. I’d eat it. But not in front of anyone. And now it’s a foodie obsession. In fact, on occasions, I eat bran flakes as a side order to breakfast, dinner AND dessert. And I just can’t stop eating those delicious flakes of fibre.
I also get confused sometimes. But that’s nothing to do with the cereal.
:))
congratulations mr and mrs mullen!
Congratulations to my stunning sister and her new husband Scott, who were married at the weekend.
What an amazing day; I couldn’t have wished for anything more perfect. A great knees up!
All my love to the family, who I already miss dearly.
