the uk’s doing me proud

I thought that once Fairtrade Fortnight had come to a close there may be a dip in interest around all things Fairtrade. But if the press is anything to go by, it seems not. In fact, it seems that Fairtrade is flying right now.

And I’ve just read that the Lake District’s going to get all Fairtrade on us … Wow. The first National Park in the UK with the status. Visitors need not despair, they’ll only see a five pence rise on their purchase of tea and coffee, and that’s surely not going to tighten the purse strings …

But the big fact. Sales of Fairtrade products have been seen to rise by 40% in 2010. How awesome is that? I’m very proud of my nation.

will fairtrade turn heads as well as minds?

That’s me kitted out for the festival season! Loving the new seventies inspired range that Topshop has launched ready for the Spring/ Summer season. And just fantastic news that wearing these key pieces will also mean I’m fair to their traders … For some reason, I didn’t expect such on-trend pieces to be associated with the Fairtrade mark (being completely honest) – and I’m very pleasantly surprised.

Let’s hope this look turns people’s minds as well as their heads.
